Meet David and Marthie Holtzhausen
David and Marthie Holtzhausen got married in 1984 in Bloemfontein after we fell in love while attending classes. At that stage they both worked for the University of the Orange Free State, he at the department of Physics and she at the department of Meteorology. In 1987 he moved to the CSIR (Counsel for Industrial Research) at Faure in the Western Cape. Here their triplets were born and Marthie became a house wife. Their youngest son Leon was born 7 years later. David’s field of expertize is applied Physics and worked for several government agencies and private sector companies. David always knew he had a calling to work for the Lord and did pastoral training with the Andrew Murray Bible Institute. Here he met people from TWR and began serving as an area representative for TWR. Later he started a Bible school, training people in pastoral care. In 2009 he resigned he resigned to begin this ministry calling, before becoming too old to do a career change.
David grew up in a Pentecostal family, but later opts for a more conservative approach in religion and moved to a Reformed Church. Today the family worship again at a Pentecostal churches. In this way they were exposed to and experienced a wide difference in attitudes and convictions in religion. This is a great advantage to TWR with its inter-denominational work.
David stated full time with TWR in January 2013, and is involved in member care for the TWR-SA missionaries and program development for training. Marthie is teaching Mathematics at a government school, and the triplets graduated at the University of Stellenbosch. Mia became an occupational therapist and the two sons became engineers. The eldest son David became a mechanical-electronic engineer and the younger son Paul one a civil engineer. Leon is currently in Matric and aim to become a geologist. Paul and Mia are married, but David is still single and Leon is too young to marry.
